KAMLOOPS, B.C. - The University of Saskatchewan Huskie women's volleyball team defeated the Thompson Rivers WolfPack 3-2 (28-26, 16-25, 19-25, 25-20, 16-14) Friday night in Kamloops.
Down 14-12 in the deciding set, Regan Wiebe and Taylor Annala combined to score four straight points in the 16-14 victory. In the run, Wiebe had two kills and Annala a service ace.
Saskatchewan had opened the match with a 28-26 victory capitalizing on two WolfPack service errors for the win. The WolfPack took control in the middle sets winning 25-16 and 25-19 after growing large leads midway through the games that the Huskies couldn't recover from. The Huskies turned the tables in the fourth and held at least a two point lead for most of the set in the 25-20 win.
With the win, the Huskies improve to 9-8. Thompson Rivers drop to 6-11.
A trio of Huskies recorded double digits in kills. Emily Koshinsky led the trio with 18 kills, followed by Wiebe with 12 and Annala with another 11. Wiebe and Annala added 10 and 11 digs each, respectively for Saskatchewan.
Rachel Windhorst recorded a match-high 20 kills for the WolfPack, while Yevgeniya Nyukhalova added another 12 kills. Kendra Finch added a match-high 20 digs.
The two teams will meet again Saturday night. First serve is at 5 p.m. PST.
