SASKATOON – The University of Saskatchewan Huskies completed the weekend sweep of the University of Winnipeg Wesmen, winning in straight sets 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-8) Saturday night on Ron & Jane Graham Centre Court at the PAC.

Fourth-year Ruby Stefan led the Huskies with a match-high 16 kills, while adding nine digs and three assists. Fifth-year Marguerite Ferguson added seven kills.. Fellow fifth-year Mackenzie finished with a match-high 28 assists.

For the Wesmen, third-year Kalena Schulz led the team with nine kills, while adding 20 digs. First-year Ashleigh Laube would chip in with six kills of her own and four digs.

With the win, Saskatchewan's record improves to .500 on the season at 3-3. Winnipeg's record falls to 1-5.

In the first set with the score tied at 13, the Huskies would go on a run that featured two aces from Stefan to give them a comfortable 20-14 lead. Stefan's work at service was enough to give them the edge in the first set, as third-year Taylor Annala finished the set with a kill for the 25-18 win.

Coming out of a Winnipeg timeout late in the second set, the Huskies would score three straight points to give them a set-point opportunity at 24-19. However, the Wesmen wouldn't make it easy on Saskatchewan as they would rally off four straight points of their own. Huskies head coach Mark Dodds called a timeout before the Winnipeg could tie and Stefan would secure the second set with a kill, winning 25-23.

In the third, an early 9-0 Huskies run would give Saskatchewan plenty of breathing room to secure the straight set victory. Saskatchewan would finish the set on a 7-0 run to win 25-8.

The Wesmen will head home to host Calgary next weekend. Saskatchewan enters a bye-week, hitting the court on November 17-18 in Calgary next.
