Rookie right side Hannah Tanasichuk led the University of Calgary Dinos offence in a 3-1 (25-15, 25-18, 22-25, 25-11) win over the University of Saskatchewan Huskies Friday night on Ron & Jane Graham Court at the PAC in Saskatoon.

The 6-1 Arts student tallied 19 of Calgary's 51 kills in the four set affair. Tanasichuk added another 10 digs in the win for the No. 5 ranked Dinos. Kate Pexman also contributed with 11 kills and 13 digs, while Brianna Solberg recorded eight kills and a team-high 16 digs.

With the win, Calgary improves to 15-4 and stays among the top four teams in the conference standings with five matches remaining in the season. Saskatchewan drops to 6-13.

Tied at five in the first set, Calgary began to break away after a Tanasichuk kill to score three straight points.  Saskatchewan couldn't get back in the set losing 25-15.

Saskatchewan jumped to a 5-1 lead to start the second set but the Dinos capitalized on Huskie errors to tie the set at seven. A four-point service run by Tanasichuk gave the Dinos a lead that Saskatchewan couldn't close. Calgary took the set 25-18.

Tied at 15, it looked like the Dinos were head to a straight set victory when a Emma Kastelein service run put the visitors ahead 20-15. But Saskatchewan went on a 9-2 run to closer the game at 25-22.

Calgary went ahead early in the deciding set and Saskatchewan couldn't catch up. The Dinos won 25-11.

Emmalyn Copping led Saskatchewan's offence with 12 kills, while Emily Humbert and Taylor Annala each recorded seven kills. Libero Jennifer Hueser was strong on defence tallying a match-high 19 digs.

The two teams will battle again Saturday night at the PAC. First serve is at 6:30 p.m.
