Women's Soccer Wins In Final Match; Hosts Cougars In Quarter-final

KAMLOOPS – The University of Saskatchewan Huskies closed out the 2016 Canada West women's soccer regular season with a 2-0 win over the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Sunday afternoon.

Tied 0-0 after the first half, fifth-year Erica Hindmarsh broke open the scoring in the game in the 64th minute. Causing a turnover, Hindmarsh's shot from 35 yards out sailed into the net. Leesa Eggum scored the second Huskies' goal on a cross play from Hindmarsh in the 81st minute.

WolfPack net minder Deanna Brady kept TRU in the match making 15 saves. Jadyn Steinhauer played in net for Saskatchewan. The Huskies outshot the WolfPack 31-5.

With the win, the Huskies finish the season 8-3-3 and will move on to the postseason. Thompson Rivers finished 1-12.

Saskatchewan hosts provincial rivals the University of Regina Cougars on October 29th in a Canada West quarter-final. Match time is 12 p.m. on Field 7 in PotashCorp Park
