The Huskies and T-Birds meet in the semifinal for the second straight season and third time in history. Each have won a series including the T-Birds in three games in 2016-17.

The UBC Thunderbirds advanced to the semifinal with a sweep of the Mount Royal Cougars in the quarter-final at home.

Goalies Tory Micklash and Amelia Boughn both earned hard-fought wins in the series. Micklash stopped 24 of 25 shots in 115 minutes of action in Game 1, while Game 2 saw Boughn stop 15 of 17 in 75 minutes. Micklash finished the regular season with a 1.36 GAA, Boughn finished with a 1.46 GAA – both marks inside the conference' top five.

During the regular season, forwards Mathea Fischer & Hannah Clayton-Carroll led the Thunderbirds with 17 & 16 points respectively. 14 of Fischers 17 points were assists, while 12 of Clayton-Carroll's 16 points were goals.
