CALGARY - University of Saskatchewan captain Kaitlin Willoughby scored midway through the second period to lift Huskies 2-0 over the University of Calgary Dinos Friday night in Father David Bauer Arena.
After a pass from the boards found Kayla Kirwan all alone in front of the net, Kelsey Roberts made a phenomenal pad stop to rob Kirwan at point blank range. However, the rebound would find Willoughby who capitalized on the second opportunity to put her team in front at 11:21.
Emma Nutter added the empty net goal for Saskatchewan at 19:59.
Roberts made 38 saves in the loss for the Dinos, while Jessica Vance stopped seven in her fifth shutout of the season.
The two teams meet again Saturday night. Puck drop is at 6 p.m.
