Huskie Athlete of the Week (January 29, 2018):
University of Saskatchewan goaltender Jessica Vance helped the Huskies to a weekend sweep of the No. 3 ranked UBC Thunderbirds with 34 saves.
The second-year Kinesiology student from Prince Albert, Sask., made all 13 saves in Friday's 2-0 shootout win. A night later, Vance stopped 21 ofs22 shots she faced in regulation and overtime. She added three stops in the shootout for the 2-1 Huskie win.
The UBC Saturday night goal stopped a shutout streak of 273:41 for Vance that included three straight shutout games. The total puts her third on the Canada West all-time list and she has seven shutouts this season.
Vance and Huskies remain at home to host the Alberta Pandas in a battle for a top two spot in the conference.

The Prince Albert, Sask., Kinesiology student combined for 50 saves in her first-ever Canada West games as a Huskie and as a starting goalie after transferring from the Manitoba Bisons. The wins were the first of her career.
In Friday’s 2-0 shutout, Vance made 33 saves. A day later in a 2-1 win, she made 17 saves.
It was the first time in two years that the Thunderbirds were swept at home and It the first time Saskatchewan has swept the T-Birds in Vancouver since a series in November 2011.
Vance and the Huskies travel to Edmonton to meet the Alberta Pandas on the weekend.
