SASKATOON – The University of Calgary Dinos spoiled the University of Saskatchewan Huskies perfect start to the 2017-18 women's basketball season with a 74-68 win on Ron & Jane Centre Court at the PAC.

With the win, the Dinos improve to 7-2. The Huskies drop to 8-1 after starting the season with eight straight wins. It is also just the third loss at the PAC in the regular season for the Huskies since the 2013-14 season.

Calgary's fifth-year Shannon Hatch shot a perfect 5-for-5 from three-point range to aide her game-high 19 points. She added nine rebounds. First-year Liene Stalidzane chipped in off the bench with a double-double recording 15 points and 11 rebounds.

For the Huskies, third-year Megan Ahlstrom tied Hatch's game-high 19 points, while adding seven rebounds and a steal. Third-year Sabine Dukate recorded 18 points, four rebounds and three assists.

Saskatchewan started out strong in the first quarter, building an eight-point lead at 20-12 that would slightly shrink to seven going into halftime at 35-28.

The Dinos took over in the second half. A 10-2 run in the third quickly turned the tables on Saskatchewan and were outscored 26-14 in the quarter. Calgary led 54-49 heading into the final 10 minutes of the game.

Calgary's strong play continued to start the final quarter with a 7-0 run barely a minute in.  After a couple of Huskies baskets to trim the lead, another Calgary 10-2  run secured the victory.

The teams meeting again Saturday night in the final game of the first half of the Canada West season. Tipoff is at 6:15 p.m.
