Lindquist named to Development Women's National Team

Megan Lindquist, headed into her fifth year with Huskies women's basketball, will suit up for Canada at the 2017 Summer Universiade in Taipei, as Canada Basketball announced the 12 athletes named to the Development National Team on Friday.

The team is set to compete at the U24 Women Basketball League Four Nations 2017 and Taipei 2017 29th Summer Universiade this month.

"We are pleased to confirm the twelve players who will represent Canada and gain international mileage against a variety of styles and levels of development national teams," said Denise Dignard, Director, Women's High Performance. "We look forward to seeing their progress as individuals and as a team as we grow our athlete pool and provide our Canadian coaches with valuable international experience."

Fabian McKenzie takes the helm in his sixth year as Head Coach and is joined by assistant coaches Chantal Vallée and Nate McKibbon.

The team is currently training at Ryerson University (Kerr Hall) until August 8th and will first travel to Tokyo, Japan on August 9 to compete at the inaugural U24 Women Basketball League Four Nations 2017 where they will face off against Japan, USA and Australia. Canada tips-off tournament play on August 12 against host Japan at 3:30 AM ET.

Following this tournament, the team will then travel to Taipei City, Taiwan to compete at the Taipei 2017 29thSummer Universiade. Canada tips-off tournament play on August 21 against Portugal at 3 AM ET.

Canada is currently ranked 6th in the FIBA Women's World Rankings.
