The 2018 University of Saskatchewan Huskies varsity cross country program will be hosting an open try out opportunity on Saturday September 1st, 2018 at Griffiths Stadium at 10am. This try out will consist of a time trial run where the women run 6km and the men run 8km.
Athletes will be selected to the varsity team based off of their time trial performance. The benchmark for women is 25:00* for 6km while the benchmark for men is 28:40* for 8km* Athletes who surpass these benchmarks will be offered a Huskie varsity spot. Those failing to achieve the benchmark may still be offered a varsity roster position as determined by the head coach. Those not offered a varsity roster position will have the opportunity to train with the team as part of a cross-country running club.
UofS Huskies Cross Country is a varsity program that is committed to high performance excellence. U SPORTS championship distance is 8km for women and 10km for men. Our mission is to provide an elite student-athlete experience within a unique, ever changing environment that fosters athletic and academic excellence.
Individuals looking to try out should email head coach Jason Reindl jason.reindl@usask.ca prior to August 1st to make sure that they are aware of all team requirements. Any questions can also be directed to the head coach.
