SASKATOON – University of Saskatchewan keeper Patrick Pranger posted a six save shuout to lead the Huskies 4-0 over the visiting MacEwan University Griffins Thursday afternoon on Field 7 in PotashCorp Park.

Pranger, a fourth-year Austrian exchange student, made two saves in the first half and another four in the second to secure his fourth shutout of the season. Pranger also added an assist on the Huskies' third goal of the afternoon.

With the win, Saskatchewan improves to 7-4-0 and keeps pace at the top of the Canada West men's soccer prairie division standings. MacEwan falls to 1-7-1.

Saskatchewan opened the scoring in the 42nd minute after Kwame Opoku converted on his third penalty kick of the season. The Huskies were award the kick after Griffins' keeper Dory Elliott was handed a yellow card for a tackle in the box.

The Huskies continued the momentum scoring just three minutes into the second half on a Joseph Powell free kick just outside the box. A Griffins' hand ball set the Huskies up with the shot and Powell beat Elliott in the top right corner.

On a trip back down the pitch, the Griffins had thought to cut the Huskies' lead in half in the 50th minute but were called offside. On the Griffins next chance, Christian Kosmin almost bent the ball over Pranger's head, but he was able to get a hand on it to keep it out.

Rookie Diego Godoy scored in the 88th minute beating Elliot low right and Tyler Redl added the fourth goal in added time after the ball found his foot in a scrum of players infront of the net.

Elliott finished the match making two saves. Saskatchewan outshot the Griffins 17-10.

The Huskies remain at home to host the Alberta Golden Bears Sunday in the final home match of the 2017 regular season. MacEwan travels to meet the Pronghorns.EndFragment
