5 Things vs MacEwan

  1. This is the second meeting between the Huskies and MacEwan Griffins in 2017. The Huskies won 2-1 in Edmonton on Sept. 2. 

  2. The Huskies are undefeated against the MacEwan Griffins at 6-0-1.

  3. This is just the third trip to Saskatoon for the MacEwan Griffins who started playing in the Canada West in 2014.

  4. More than 1,000 school kids will be at Thursday's match.

  5. Saskatchewan returns to the friendly confines of Field 7 where they lost just four matches since 2016.

5 Things vs Alberta

  1. This is the second meeting between the Huskies and Alberta Golden Bears in 2017. The Bears won 4-1 in Edmonton on Sept. 3. 

  2. Despite the lopsided all-time record, the Huskies are 6-4-1 in the last 11 games against the Golden Bears.

  3. Sunday's game is the Bateman Cup. The game honours Reginald Bateman who died in the Great War and was a member of the first ever Huskie Athletics soccer team. 

  4. The Huskies will wear vintage jerseys that honour the original Huskies' team that Reginald Bateman was a member of on Sunday.

  5. Sunday is the final home match for the Huskies in the 2017 men's soccer regular season.

Scouting The Griffins

  • The MacEwan Griffins enter the weekend 1-6-1 and fresh from a 2-2 tie with the Fraser Valley Cascades. MacEwan's lone win came on August 27 over the Mount Royal Cougars.
  • Lahai Mansaray has provided the bulk of the offence for  MacEwan scoring four of the Griffin's eight goals in 2017. 

Scouting The Golden Bears

  • The No. 1 ranked Alberta Golden Bears are first in the Canada West Prairie Division with a 6-1-1 record.
  • The only blemish on the season for the Golden Bears was a  2-0 loss to the Trinity Western Spartans at home last weekend.  
  • Alberta is the reigning U SPORTS champion.
  • Alberta's offence has five different players tallying two goals or more including Ajeej Sarkaria with four, Tolu Esan with three and Ajay Khabra with three.
