University of Saskatchewan men's soccer head coach Bryce Chapman announced his coaching staff for the 2017 season Tuesday afternoon.
The staff is highlighted by international coach Stuart Neely.
Neely has coached in youth world cup qualifying events as well as many international tours while working the Canada Soccer Association (CSA). During that time, he also served as a coach educator at all levels of instruction from child to senior (A License). In recent years while working with Vancouver Whitecaps and Toronto FC of the MLS, he spent a great amount of time developing youth footballers and programs to suit their needs. Coaching within the MLS, USL, PDL, CIS and overseas structures, he has learned a great deal and is excited to share his ideas and vision on the game from a coaching education perspective. Stuart holds a Masters in Physical Education, Bachelors in Adult Education as well as being a Level 5 Chartered Professional Coach.
"I am extremely excited to announce Stuart Neely who is joining our coaching staff this year," said Chapman. "As you can see with Stuart's bio he brings a great amount of experience that will further develop the coaching staff but also reach out to our players in their preparations. Stuart will be in Saskatoon at different times over the season as well head up the game analysis and scouting preparations."
Also new to the staff is Chris Zoller.
Men's soccer alumnus, Zoller, is the current Astra Academy head coach. The University of Saskatchewan College of Kinesiology and Education graduate has also worked with Hollandia as a head coach, as well as was an assistant coach with Team Saskatchewan's male entry at the Western Canada Games in 2015. As an athlete, he competed with Hollandia, as well as provincially and at Canada Games in 2005.
Returning to the staff for his 18th season will be University of Saskatchewan Athletic Wall of Fame inductee Kent Kowalski.
The Huskies opened fall training camp Tuesday and open the Canada West season on August 26th at 2 p.m. on Field 7 in PotashCorp Park against the Lethbridge Pronghorns.
