Following a shootout defeat on Friday, the University of Calgary Dinos bounced back with a victory, winning 4-2 over the University of Saskatchewan Huskies at the Father David Bauer Arena.
Dinos veteran forward Cain Franson opened the scoring at 15:16 in the first period for Calgary as he notched his first of two goals of the night beating Huskies netminder Jordon Cooke. Saskatchewan's Levi Cable responded with a goal at 17:43 of the first period on a 5-on-3 powerplay.
In the second, the Dinos were quick to retake the lead as forward Tim Vanstone made it 2-1 with just over 4 minutes remaining in to the period. Huskies defender Jesse Forsberg tied the game at 14:33 of the second period with a shorthanded marker. The Dinos retook the lead 21 seconds later when Dylan Busenius scored on a deflected shot that beat Cooke.
The Dinos scored an insurance goal when Cain Franson picked up his second goal of the night at 15:13 of the third period.
Cooke finished the night with 24 saves for the Huskies while Dino's netminder Matthew Greenfield also made 24 saves in the winning effort.
The Dinos and Huskies each enter a bye week. Calgary returns from the bye week to play Mount Royal Nov. 10-11. The Huskies return home to host UBC.
