SASKATOON - University of Saskatchewan third-year forward Logan McVeigh scored the game winner 44 seconds into double overtime to lift the No. 3 ranked Huskies over the visiting University of Lethbridge Pronghorns in Rutherford Rink.

McVeigh picked the puck off at the blue line for a partial breakaway beating Lethbridge goaltender Garrett Hughson five-hole.

With the win the Huskies remain undefeated in the young Canada West men's hockey season at 3-0-0. Lethbridge drops to 1-1-1.

Lethbridge led 3-2 with under two minutes to play in the game. But Huskies' rookie Collin Shirley tied the game with his first Canada West goal at 18:45 on a scramble in front of the net.

The 'Horns had opened the scoring at 4:54 in the first period on a Tyler Maltby goal on scramble in front of the Huskie netminder Jordon Cooke. Saskatchewan's Josh Roach scored his third of the season to tie the game at 10:28 in the same frame. Roach beat Hughson on a centring pass.

Lethbridge's Mitchell Maxwell gave the Pronghorns a 2-1 lead in the dying minutes of the second period. Coming down from the slot, he received a pass from Justin Valentino from behind the net to score at 19:01.

Alex Forsberg knotted the game again with a goal from the slot on the power play just 3:23 into the third period.

Lethbridge's Torrin White tallied what appeared to be the game-winner at 6:38 in the final period before Shirley's game-tying goal.

Hughson was impressive in the game for the Pronghorns making 46 saves in the loss while Cooke stopped 27 in the win.

The two teams will meet again Saturday night in Rutherford Rink. Puck drop is 7 p.m.
