5 Things

  1. The winner of the Canada West Play-In will move on to a Canada West best-of-three quarter-final on the road. The loser's season comes to a close.

  2. The Vikes are 10-4 in playoff games vs the Huskies since 1982. The Vikes won the last postseason in 2015 in the CW final 70-67 in Saskatoon.

  3. In November, the Vikes swept the Huskies by a total of 17 points. The sweep was the first 2 of 8 straight losses for Saskatchewan, not winning until Jan. 6, turning the tide to finish the year winning 8 of their last 9.

  4. Guard Lawrence Moore was named Canada West First Star this week after his near triple-double, 67 point performance against the Cougars.

  5. The Huskie starting backcourt each average at least 33 MPG, inside the CW top ten. Moore's 36.1 minutes is second, while Unruh's 33.6 minutes in seventh.

Scouting The Vikes

  • The Vikes lost their final three games of the year, losing to Mount Royal by six followed by the UBC Thunderbirds sweeping them by an average of 33.5 points.

  • The Vikes offense starts when they cross half court.  Jason Scully's 48.3 3pt % is tops in the CW, for an offense that converts 9.7 threes per game, fifth in the conference.

  • Their 81.3 points per game is seventh in the conference, without much help from the defensive end. The Vikes sit in the bottom half of the conference for steals and blocks while their 17 personal fouls per game is 3rd-highest in the CW. 12.3 turnovers per game is also third-highest.
