SASKATOON – The UBC Thunderbirds finished Day 3 of the 19th annual Ron & Jane Graham Shootout with a win to finish on top of the tournament at the PAC.

The Thunderbirds would defeat the Mount Royal Cougars 100-82 on Saturday afternoon, giving them a perfect 3-0 record on the tournament.

The University of Saskatchewan Huskies finished the tournament 1-2, as they picked up their lone win vs Mount Royal on day one, 85-77. The Huskies would lose to UBC on day two, 92-72. On day three, Western defeated the Huskies by a score of 86-59.

Lawrence Moore stood out for the Huskies in the tournament. The  guard shot 49% overall, good for 26.3 points per game while chipping in a total of 13 rebounds, nine assists and eight steals. 

On the winning side, Phil Jalapoor continued his impressive play for the Thunderbirds. The fifth-year guard put up 30 points on 50% shooting, adding six rebounds, two assists and a steal. Jalapoor wasn't alone this time, as teammate and fifth-year forward Luka Zaharijevic shot a perfect 11-for-11 from the floor, good for 26 points while adding eight rebounds.

The Thunderbirds closest taste to defeat came against Western on day one, where they snuck away with a four-point-win vs the Mustangs, 89-85.

On day two, Jalapoor took let it fly vs the hometown Huskies. The impressive guard shot 11-17 from three-point range, contributing to his 41-point night. Jalapoor added nine rebounds, five assists and two steals to fill out the stat sheet. The Thunderbirds would beat Saskatchewan 92-72.

Saskatchewan opens the Canada West season October 27-28 at home versus the Manitoba Bisons.
