5 Things

  1. If both Alberta and Saskatchewan finish 3-5, the tie-break will come down to overall PF/PA. Given the two teams finished 1-1 against each other (the first two-team tie-breaker is head-to-head record), and with identical head-to-head PF/PA totals (second tie-breaker when two teams are tied), overall PF/PA would be used to determine the fourth and final playoff spot. The Huskies enter the weekend with a 14-point cushion in that category, meaning Alberta would need to outscore Calgary by 15 more points than Saskatchewan's margin of victory in their game against Manitoba to claim a playoff spot.

  2. A loss would remove the Huskies from all playoff scenarios. It would be the first time since 2001, the Huskies have missed the postseason.

  3. Last week, Alberta chased quarterback Kyle Siemens from the game after failing to find the end zone uncharacteristically for the senior, who has 18 touchdown passes in 2017.

  4. In the earlier matchup this year, the Huskies defence stopped a Bisons' second half comeback bid by holding their opponent to zero points in the fourth quarter.

  5. It is Great Western Fan Appreciation night. Prizes will be given out to lucky fans all night long. Fifth-year athletes will also be honoured pre-game.

By The Numbers

1 - The Huskies need to win to secure the final playoff spot.

20 - The Huskies outscored the Bisons by 20 points in the first meeting of the season.

77.5 - In the Week 1 meeting, Kyle Siemens had a 77.5% completition rate - his highest in a 2017 game.

343 - Quarterback Kyle Siemens is 343 yards away from setting the Huskies single season record.

Scouting The Bisons

  • Manitoba has scored a Canada West low 20.6 points per game.

  • In their first three games, QB Theo Deezar would throw four interceptions and three touchdowns. Since week four,  Des Catellier has taken over starting duties, throwing seven interceptions with two touchdowns.

  • Manitoba kicks field goals at a 84% rate, a Canada West high. The Bisons also return kicks and punts at a combined 14.6-yard average, leading the Canada West.

  • The Bisons'  70% total red zone percentage is the lowest in the conference, and they only earn touchdowns on 40% of their trips.
